Softeners
MAX your water. Not your appliance repairs.
When water is actually hard, it is not a cosmetic problem. The same calcium and magnesium that leave spots on glassware are steadily coating the inside of your water heater, plating out on faucet cartridges, and shortening the life of every appliance that heats water. In a tankless heat exchanger, scale is a common cause of lost output.
A softener fixes that, but only if hardness is measured and the unit is sized correctly. Winston-Salem and Forsyth city water is often on the soft side, so we test before we sell a softener. Undersize a unit and it regenerates constantly. Oversize it and you waste money. We measure hardness, count fixtures, estimate daily demand, and size to match.
We install Water-Right and Drop Connect softening systems, service existing softeners regardless of who installed them, and can fold salt fills and system checks into the Annual Service Plan.

Water Softeners FAQs
Straight answers to what people ask us most about this service.
How do I know if my water is hard?
Scale on shower heads, spotting on glassware, and soap that will not lather are the everyday signs. A test gives you the number, we will measure it for free.
Does softened water taste salty?
No. Ion exchange trades hardness minerals for a small amount of sodium; it does not put you anywhere near a salty taste. If sodium intake is a medical concern, a potassium-based salt or a reverse-osmosis tap for drinking water solves it.
How much salt will it use?
It depends on hardness and water usage. A correctly sized, demand-initiated softener uses far less salt than an older timer-based unit that regenerates on a fixed schedule whether it needs to or not.
Will a softener remove iron or sulfur smell?
A softener handles a limited amount of clear-water iron, but heavy iron, sulfur odor, or sediment need dedicated filtration ahead of it. That is exactly what the water test determines.
